I wanted this for years and finally got it. It holds fruit on our counter. It gives good air circulation and looks great. Very happy I finally hit the "place order" button. This basket is shallower than I expected from the photos (about four inches deep), which I actually like. This makes it an excellent fruit bowl, as it forces the fruit to be spread out instead of sitting in tall piles and bruising what's underneath. It also doesn't require as much fruit to fill as I expected, allowing the fruit to be eaten and refilled often rather than just adding to the top pieces while the bottom spoils. The open structure of the bowl prevents moisture from being trapped, which helps prevent the fruit from rotting before it can be eaten. It's welded together nicely, and is a great size for a kitchen island or coffee table. It looks gorgeous and really highlights the color of the fruit it holds. Pricey, but worth it!The Alesi Blow Up Basket is a unique and artistic basket design which can be useful as well. We like the basket and plan to use it as a fruit basket or a bread basket with a napkin lining. I am disappointed in some of the workmanship with respect to inconsistency among some the welds used to hold the metal "sticks" together. Fortunately, this problem only is visable upon inspection and generally would not be noticed. However, since the basket is a work of art, it is likely to attract more than a casual glance from some people, and therefore, the weld inconsistancy causes me to rate the product below 5 stars.I like the style and the finish, also it is large enoughAlessi Blow Up Basket is just perfect for our coffee table. It is a piece of art work as well as practical to hold fruit and/or you can place a napkin in it and serve snacks. It goes well with the more modern euro type of furniture. A bit expensive for what it is (cut up metal sticks weld together like the old grocery carts but shinier and shaped somewhat like a bird's nest) but it matched a lamp and another piece of artwork that we have in our home so we decided to spend the money on it to tie in all the pieces of artwork.Saw this product in a store window in Belgium a few years ago and in London last year but didn't want to bother lugging it back to the US. Hadn't been able to find it at US stores because it was discontinued. Amazon to the rescue! Less expensive, too!The basket arrived on time and well-boxed. Amazon's description of its dimensions is correct.Information leaflet says that each item is hand-weilded, but nowhere on leaflet show care instructions or where it was made, so I guess it might have been China. I'm no world-class welders, but even I could tell that the fusing of the rods could have been better wielded together. If you decide to buy this basket, just know that you're buying it just for its looks. The basket certainly has good design, but you'll have to pay an arm and a leg for that.I do get compliments for my Alessi basket; don't get me wrong. But, after those compliments had come and gone, I realized that I overspent a little on this basket.Hope this helps.Great productA very striking design from the Alessi Blow Up range, this is not the cheapest fruit bowl you'll find. However, if you're looking for a receptacle with scale and presence that will remain current in design terms AND which will hold a lot of fruit as well as looking pretty good with not much in it, this citrus basket surely merits an entry on your shortlist. In my kitchen, this sits below Alessi's Momento wall clock by Aldo Rossi and they work well together. I have a few items from the Blow Up range; they are useful in smaller areas in particular as they take up less room visually and help to give an illusion of space. This citrus basket, in common with other items from the range, is not hard to clean - an occasional encounter with a feather duster is best, nothing more complicated but in that Blow Up items all reflect light wonderfully, they really never look dusty anyway. Bonus!gift to daughter for new flat used for fruit or sometimes for remotesLooks stunning ideal for a contemporary kitchen like mine. I'd say you could hold a bag of apples and some smaller bits. Bowl came on time and was well packaged. Very pleased ??Absolutely delighted with my Blow Up Fruit Bowl, it's stylish and looks like a one-off designer piece. The stainless finish looks really expensive plus it's practical and the perfect size for holding lots of fruit. Can't recommend it enough!,Bought this recently in high hopes that it would be a match... however the design made my kitchen look at bit messy (I have black granite worktops). I guess one would need to assess what other items they have, and whether this bowl would blend in well in terms of look.
